The project comprised of the construction of a new ten bed hospice at Hillington, Norfolk. This project followed on from two previous phases carried out by R G Carter Building Ltd: footings in 2011 and the drainage and substructures in 2012.

Work has been completed on the shell and core of the single-story timber framed building as well as the fit out.

Each bedroom has a private patio area in which patients can enjoy the outdoors whilst still remaining connected to vital support equipment. The building has been constructed to hospital standards with wider doorways and corridors suitable for beds to be taken through.

In addition to the bedrooms, there is also a kitchen large enough to provide for carers and patients as well as for functions, offices and a family support area.

Having initially only been responsible for the architectural element of the project, HAL quickly established itself within the Norfolk Hospice organisation.

Since completion of the main construction and fit out phase of Tapping House we were subsequently employed to carry out the design and project management of three further projects for new areas at the Hospice.

These included clinical and office facilities with further projects yet to come. HAL has also become a sponsor of corporate events for the Hospice.
